EB60 Manual Transmission 3rd Gear Grinding When Cold RedLine MT-LV Gear Oil Fix (Scion tC2 / tC2.5)
🛒 Product link(s) at bottom of video description.
After I had my transmission worked on the first time, I started getting grinding in 3rd gear in the morning, especially when it was cold out. This was due to the gear oil used by the two shops that worked on it. Since the actual Toyota gear oil is impossible to find, I went with RedLine MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 synthetic gear oil to resolve my issue.

THANK YOU for the tip about using the different browser!
Does the pz-31 have more rms amplified power or is it the same as the pz-7 and only the equalization changes???
I was also having issues in the winter in -40 C in Canada. But this was awesome and did the trick for me as well.
(2012 Scion TC)
Yes I have been using this for 3+ years on my 13 TC and it has always shifter like butter
2 years ago my shifting was very rough, I was having a lot of grinding when shifting from 1st to 2nd, even when warm. I thought I needed a new clutch or tranny but the car was supposed to have those replaced already (must have used cheap gear oil). So after some online research I changed my gear oil to Redline MT-LV and now it's as smooth as butter. Even in the dead of a Canadian winter, when it's at it's absolute coldest, it's super smooth every time I shift gears. My shifting is still super smooth 2 years later!! This stuff is the best, no doubt, and hands down !! Thanks Derrick !! (But for the very first time I was a little bit ahead of you. lol !!) Keep up the great work man !!! We all need you out here.😁
Hey Derrick question so I currently have this head unit, I have seen some Atoto have the start up logo on them. However I can’t seem to find anything on the A6 start up logo have you managed to do so? I want to put a Scion start up logo like on the OEM head unit
Since I don't see the logo unless I completely reboot the headunit, which is rare, I haven't bothered looking into changing the logo. I instead opted to use the AGAMA Car Launcher that had the option to use the Scion logo in the middle.
That is one thing I miss on my tC !! Thanks for the video !
I ordered one from him, he never shipped anything for 2 months, never got an update, never got customer service at all.
I know he's been going through some rough times. Message me on Facebook or IG and I'll see if I can get ahold of him for you.
What was the reason for swapping the ecu in the first place? (how'd the other go bad?)
Nothing was wrong with it. I was just taking my ECU that was paired with the original OVTuner out so I can keep them together and just stuck another ECU in.
Hi Derrick, I read in a comment somewhere you said you preferred the wiring on the OEM fog lights because it ties in to the stock wiring somehow? Could you explain what the difference is, or if one could modify the winjet kit's wiring to be like the OEM kit? I'd prefer to get the OEM fogs but most Toyota part stores here ask for about $360 Canadian before tax and shipping, which is absolutely insane for a pair of fog lights lmao. Thanks
I don't know about how to modify the wiring to work with the OEM kit; that's going to be a pain because the harnesses connectors are different. It's been a while since I added fog lights to my tC, so lemme see if I can remember how it's laid out... there's a 2 pin plug behind the drivers side fog light hole that a splitter harness connects to that goes to the left and right fog lights. That plug runs to the relay box hidden under the car stereo (you need to add a relay) and then continues to the blank switch plate where you would install the fog light switch.
Wow, quick reply. Good to see you're still active. Anyway that's some useful info, I read somewhere else that most of the wiring is there even if the car didn't come with fog lights. Might be worth figuring out for people who want a more OEM setup. It sucks cause most of the price of the OEM is probably the light housings themselves, which I want to replace with projectors eventually anyway. I really just need the bumper inserts and the wiring.
@@jumanjingus I may not be posting videos at the moment, but I try to keep up with questions on my Channel. But yeah, the main wiring from the engine bay to the car interior is there. You just need the lights, the harness to connect both of them to the OEM wiring, a relay (I think it's the 2nd spot down on the relay block), and a switch (the connector in the car should be wrapped up in tape). Maybe you can find the parts at a junk yard?
How to change cooling in this car ? I couldn't find the radiator cap
It just has the overflow tank cap for refilling and the drain at the bottom of the radiator for draining. You can watch my video at ruclips.net/video/q1IGquYBBS4/видео.html to see where the drain is.
I used strips of paper towel on the tape areas and soaked it down with goo-gone to keep it from going everywhere and a plastic razor blade but a rubber eraser will do the trick in 1/10th the time.
Do I have to drill any holes to put the spoiler on my 23 Camry Le? It looks nice and I want it
I wouldn't think so.
does any other head unit work or just the A6
any other head unit by atoto
It should be about the same. The only difference is that some headunits use a 20-pin connector instead of 16, so some of the wires that would have been on a separate harness would be on the 20-pin one.
Any other bolt ons? Also where did you install o2 spacer?
This is an old video. Since then, I've replaced the Borla with a Greddy catback exhaust, which is bolted directly to a Dezod Green header. I have a custom ram air intake and a 91 / 93 octane tuned ECU. If you need to install an O2 spacer, it would go on the mid pipe only and not the header.
Just checking in again, how does the spoiler still hold up with just the 3m tape?
Still holding up fine.
@@VampyreX13 awesome! Thanks man, love the car
I used to have a 350z and when I put on the mid-chassis brace, it made a world of a difference so I'm excited to install mine. Only concern I have is whether to wait or not because I have a mid-pipe on backorder and am curious if it's an easy work-around or if it would be better to just remove it for the installation.
When I had my Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator installed on the front of my mid pipe, the shop was able to unbolt, remove, and reinstall it without taking out the mid chassis brace.
Ik this video is old but how does the ride at the softest dampening setting compare to oem i have to swap my oem shocks are shot and was considering getting these as a daily
The springs are still going to make the ride feel a lot more rough than OEM no matter where you have the dampers set to. You may want to stick with lowering springs or higher quality coilovers or bags if you are concerned about ride comfort.
What did you use to clean the door before you applied the glue?
I don't remember at the time of this video, but generally, I use Dawn dish soap and water to clean it, then I'll give the area a little bit of wax when I'm done pulling the dent.
Do Charcoal Air Filters rob hours power some can help me
Can you clarify? I'm a little confused what you're asking. Do you mean the cabin air filter? That's the only one that would have anything to do with charcoal filtering and that has no impact on engine power.
@@VampyreX13 the engine one
becuse stock aire filter box in the got to 2 the one you replace and second ons is the charcoal what happen i remove the second one in the engine
@funnypotatoman773 I haven't had the factory air box in my car for years, but I vaguely think I know what you're talking about. I'm going to have to dig up in my attic and find my air box and have a quick look at it later today, and I'll get back to you. Is it a filter that's part of the airbox and not usually replaceable like the standard paper air filter?
@@VampyreX13 yes
I bought a clamp like this a few days ago to get a brake caliper slide pin out but lost the receipt for it so couldn’t return it (thought I could use it one time and return it). This gives me a new idea to use this and keep it - thank you!
After Bout 10 trys.. I Found The Hot Glue Stays Too Gummy after 10 Seconds Never Pulled the Ding... Let the Hot Glue dry over Night.. The Ding Popped out easy..No gummy glue..
Might be too hot out, or you're in direct sun.
hi how are you i see a long cold intake for my scion tc some people tell it idle does it give any horse power to a car are not and is it good to buy are not becuse im new at this
Cold air is denser and will make more horse power, but it's minor gains. You also risk hydro-lock because the filter is usually in the wheel well. The only reason my setup works so well is because the filter is inline and the inlet is facing forward so it gets ram air at highway speeds. I also have a tuned ECU so I can run on 91 / 93 octane.
I think i did something wrong cus my voice sounds like i'm in a jar edit: i removed high-pass filter
My filter is a good start, but sometimes you need to make some adjustments to get it to sound just right for your own voice. Glad you got it figured out.
BEST SPOT TO KILL THAT WHINE IS AT THE ALTERNATOR WITH A SINGLE 150AMP FILTER. KINDA PRICY THOUGH...
is this still good?
Whilst I have not used mine in a couple of years, they are still selling the VF Tuner.
i have trd strut bar and trd lowering springs, will this reduce under steer? What does this help with? I like to drive on curvy mountain roads.
This will definitely help for your curvy mountain roads since you're reducing the chassis flex and allowing the other suspension components to work better. It's been several years since I installed it, so I don't remember exactly how the car handled before and after. Just the fact that it handled better. If you can get all of the braces, that will be the best. If you can't get them, then get this mid chassis race followed by the rear strut bar for your best bang. Sway bars will also help a lot, but they're very hard to find.
How deep is the slot for the jack stands adapter & the circular slotted jack pad? I find Japanese car pinch welds are over 1 inch which is deeper than most of slotted adapter.
These are 0.8" deep.
Does it have a transmission temp option? My 02 v10 Dodge doesn't have a trans temp gauge.
It depends on what sensors your car has and if it outputs that data to the OBD2.
That's so cool I'm definitely going to get one in the future but what caught my eyes was the front grille. was that custom 3d or does someone else make that?
It was a honeycomb mesh I found on Amazon, cut to size, and put edge trim around.
Fantastic review! Thanks very much for the 3D print model.

So you didnt need the weapon r elbow spacer at all?
Only since we installed a different spacer. I've installed the Weapon-R spacer before, but it required taking my friend's s-pipe off his car.
How’s the transmission going?
Working well since my friend took it apart and replaced whatever broke inside (I can't recall what he said it was).
Great but: Before-After, the results in HP-torque are... ?
I don't have any Dyno tests with it, as that is costly, but I do have a video showing the ram air boost it makes at instagram.com/tv/CdCQDSpgSZY/.
@@VampyreX13 : excactly that i was going to tell you, if Dyno test is costly then a Torque App will do the job, well done mate !
This seems brilliant and I might even pull it off, but I don't know if removing the arm rest is worth the sacrifice since mine isn't detachable
How did you get your interior carbon fiber?
I vinyl wrapped it per ruclips.net/video/N3DBb0uNya4/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/Q1woTwvgpmA/видео.html.
I have a high pitch whine upon acceleration, and it changes with RPM. Im thinking it might be one of my tensioners or serpentine belt itself. How can I definitively tell?
Use a mechanics stethoscope to listen near the pulleys while you have someone gently accelerate.
@@VampyreX13While my car is in park or neutral?
@@VampyreX13 Okay, I checked today. I checked some of the pulleys with the stethoscope and listened around the engine bay as someone else was holding revs at about 2K. It sounds like it's coming from the trans. Is this normal for the automatic? No codes, trans acts fine.
@@kittbluevenom2384 I drive a manual, so I don't know what issues the auto version may have, but it shouldn't be making a noise like that. If you had a manual tranmission, I would think it could be the throwout bearing or input shaft bearing. Not sure what would cause your whine, but I would bring it to a shop that works on tranmissions since you've narrowed the issue down to it.
I drove past your car today and saw the RUclips username so I'm stopping by to say hi :)

I got aftermarket fender liners after my OEM passenger side one got tore up. They've been holding up great. I did replace all the clips as well. The liners I have are amzn.to/3y8gi3L and they've been fine for 2 years.
Hey Derrick. Thank you for the information. I ordered the same bushings with MWR shifters. The driver's side busting was easy to install. But the passenger side bushing wouldn't come out. Any tip? Mine is a 2015 Scion tc base
I somehow missed this question. I'm sure you got it resolved by now, but I don't have any tips aside from push hard and it should eventually pop out.
